Shoshanna Wingate was born in New York City, raised between New York and South Carolina, and lived in many far-flung places from San Francisco to Berlin to Vermont. Since 2004, she has made her home in Atlantic Canada.  

While living in St. John's, Newfoundland, she was a founding editor of Riddle Fence, an arts & culture journal. Her poetry and fiction have been published in The New QuarterlyThe FiddleheadArc Poetry MagazineHunger Mountain Review online, and Room Magazine. Her poetry chapbook, Homing Instinct, was published by Frog Hollow Press and her full-length poetry collection, Radio Weather, was published by Vehicule Press in 2014. Radio Weather was named a 2014 most anticipated book by 49th Shelf and All Lit Up named her an emerging poet to watch. She is currently working on a memoir about growing up a gay activist father in the deep South of the United States. 

Her other passions include the fibre arts, natural dyes, and community activism. 

Shoshanna teaches creative writing workshops for both adults and youth and works at The Sackville Commons Co-operative as a jill-of-all-trades admin/grant writing/program development maven.
